What happens if I didn't renew by 30th September 2025?
Your current energy basket contract will have expired, and your church will automatically be moved to out-of-contract rates. With market volatility resulting from global conflicts, these rates could be significantly higher than contracted pricing, potentially impacting your budget.
Is this the same service I've been using?
Yes, absolutely. This is the same trusted energy basket service you’ve relied on, with the same team, same suppliers and same proven approach. The only change is that we now operate under the 2buy2 name rather than managing it for another organisation.
Do I need to go through a new application process?
No. Since you’re already part of our energy basket, renewal is straightforward. Simply sign a new Letter of Authority and you can join. No credit checks or complex onboarding required.
Will my pricing change with the renewal?
You’ll continue to benefit from the same group pricing model. When new pricing is released, you’ll receive competitive rates that come from our collective purchasing power.
How do I ensure that my organisation pays the correct amount of VAT?
Any organisation that is entitled to a reduction of VAT will be able to complete forms that will have this removed from their bill. They will not be affected by being in a basket with others who pay the full amount.
If you are currently in the basket and have provided a VAT declaration you will not need to provide another one.
Do I need to set up new direct debits if the basket is now directly with 2buy2?
No. Your existing direct debit with TotalEnergies Gas & Power is still valid and so there is no other admin required to continue in the 2buy2 basket.
What commission charges will I pay with 2buy2?
2buy2 have negotiated a reduced cost from the energy supplier, TotalEnergies Gas & Power, for the next basket compared to the current one.
2buy2 charges a commission fee, which will be the same as you currently pay as a basket member. This commission fee is applied to your rates and will be displayed once pricing is provided.
Our research indicates that our commission levels are significantly lower than the standard market rates, and our rates for the upcoming basket will be no higher than those in the current basket.
How is the commission applied to my bill?
The commission fee is built into your energy rates, so you don’t receive a separate bill for our services. This means there are no hidden fees – everything is included in the rates you pay for your gas and electricity.
Is this part of Parish Energy?
No, this is not part of Parish Energy/Parish Buying. This is an entirely independent energy basket operated by 2buy2 – the trusted organisation, registered with the Energy Ombudsman, that has successfully managed the Church of England’s energy basket for the last 12 years.
With that current energy basket ending on 30th September 2025, we wanted to ensure churches still had the option to access an energy basket and the value it brings.
Our new basket offers churches a seamless transition with enhanced benefits, including lower charges from TEGP and a valuable renewal credit if renewed before 31 August 2025.
What can you tell me about the environmental impact of the basket?
Our energy basket aligns with the net-zero commitments of many local churches.
This means every church in our basket automatically receives 100% Pure Green Electricity, supporting your environmental goals. We also have the option of 100% green gas.
Our comprehensive environmental options include:
- 100% renewable electricity from wind power as standard – not an expensive add-on
- Carbon offset gas options
- Fully green gas where desired

What supplier options do you provide?
We work with TotalEnergies Gas & Power, who have negotiated reduced costs for our new energy basket. In addition, as part of joining the basket, members receive a one-off renewal credit applied to their first bill, providing immediate savings. Our commission rates are competitive and will be no higher than in your current basket rates, ensuring you get excellent value while we maintain our high service standards. We are also looking at ways we can further reduce your standing charges as we know this is an area some parishes have raised concerns about.
How does your customer service work?
Our customer service team has specialised experience working with churches over the last 12 years and understands the unique challenges faith communities face. We provide direct access to knowledgeable representatives who can handle everything from billing queries to contract negotiations. We will communicate with you every step of the way to ensure you are fully informed about the basket, keeping you updated throughout the process with clear, timely information about pricing, terms and any developments that may affect your energy supply.
What happens to smaller churches who might struggle with the transition?
The transition is simple for smaller churches – sign the LOA for 2buy2’s basket now and you will transition smoothly from the current basket to the new basket and pick up our renewal credit for your church along the way!
